I CHOPPED BREAKFAST
This isn’t the first time it is happening. The rate at which breakfast is being served in this country is fast- rising and on different breakfast platters.
Just imagine, I put my all into this. I was very patient. I waited till I was on the verge of leaving and something else made me wait even more. My patience probably hasn’t ever been stretched to this point; it wore thin like the spaghettini used in preparing my favourite Chinese meal, Zha ziang mian (I have the propensity to relate almost everything to food😭😂).
Jokes aside, I never really thought that such could happen to me. I was at the airport for almost six hours, while the flight announcer kept relating news of my delayed flight. Can I get a shout of “Patience!”… Ah! Olorun saanu mi! (Ah! God have mercy on me!). I WAITED! I kept telling myself, “All hope isn’t lost”. “You’d get to Kafanchan today.” (don’t ask me what I was looking for there sha, focus on my lamentation😭🤲).
After over five hours of delay, I decided to take a walk to the coffee shop within the airport and that was where the breakfast was served — Ding! Dong! “Good day ladies and gentlemen, this is to inform you that flight A380 of Wereymosquito Airlines to Kafanchan, Kaduna, has been cancelled due to fog…” Ah!!😨😨 It was as if the flight announcer had slapped me inside my brain, I couldn’t even hear the rest of the flight announcement. I only remember screaming “It can’t be possible! Iro ni! (it’s a lie!) I was very close to being escorted out of the airport grounds by guards. I was heartbroken (I chopped breakfast). This airline had just served unsolicited premium breakfast to a young and innocent lady, me.
With my face ashen, I solemnly walked out of the airport and flagged down a taxi to take me home.
Disclaimer: “chop breakfast” refers to a popular Nigerian slang for saying one experienced a heartbreak.
Note:
- Let me know your worst airline travel experience in the comments. I can’t be the only one that has chopped breakfast from those guys. 😂
