AGE 19… FOCUS ON YOUR STUDIES, MEN ARE A DISTRACTION; AGE 25(6 YEARS LATER)… WHEN WILL YOU MARRY?!
Why are you trying to dictate my life?! I agree that there’s time for everything under the heavens, but when it comes to marriage… Why is that Bible verse thrown under the bus? Pressure from left, right, and centre especially in African homes. That’s when one “aunty” that forgot about your existence for years would suddenly start pressurizing you at 25 and attacking you like unknown gunmen, with words…“When would you marry?” “You aren’t getting any younger, don’t you want to have children?” and blah, blah, blah!🙄
Aunty, fimile ojare!(leave me alone please!). I have a lot of plans, especially to be successful and independent. Marriage is part of it but what if my “God-sent Adam” hasn’t found me yet? Will I then settle for a mediocre “Adam”?
Rita Dominic got married at 46, she isn’t dead. I just turned 25 and you’re making noise. It’s better to wait for the perfect loaf than settle for half-baked bread. If I have fulfilled the plans God has made for me to achieve before venturing into Holy Matrimony, then I can “venture” into marriage. ’Cause to me, marriage is an adventure. In fact, LIFE is an adventure. On that note, nobody should push for me to skip some interesting parts of my adventurous life earlier than I should.
The times are getting more difficult, I don’t want to be a burden to my future “Adam” by total dependence. Rather, I want to work with him, grow with him, reason with him, raise children with him but still, we’d be two successful entities ourselves.
I want to work hard and be successful. Therefore, Aunty “get married quick” take note!🥱
